JETLAG HEALING HOLIDAYS

Back to Balance Jet Lag Recovery Package

Recover at Cotter House with Jetlag healing holidays.

Long distance airline travel can temporarily disrupt our daily rhythms, causing fatigue, insomnia and a weakening of our immune system.  Dehydration, constipation, digestive imbalances and susceptibility to colds and flues are all common side effects of travel.

To mitigate these conditions, request the following  Back to Balance Jet Lag Recovery services and treatments on site at Cotter House:

HOMEOPATHICS

Jet Lag Recovery Kit  available at Cotter House on arrival.  When you are ready to return home, use this formula to ward off the effects of jet lag once more. This is to be taken in-flight.

DETOX AND REHYDRATION

Step off the plane and  depending on your preference, you have the choice of a  Steam or Dry Finnish SAUNA, or you can  gently sink into our generous spa tub where a warm bath of special lavender oils and Epsom salts awaits. This combination combines detox and  brings a restorative calm to your entire being by stimulating circulation, relaxing muscles and relieving aches and pains. During this 30-60 minute sequence, your nervous system will be brought back to balance while accumulated toxins are gently pulled from your skin.  Purified mineral drinking water is served to re-hydrate your cells from the inside out and several bottles are provided throughout your stay. Available with Bronze Suite bookings.

MASSAGE

You have the choice of a Lymphatic drainage or a Deep Tissue body massage. Lymphatic drainage is a very gentle and subtle technique, designed to stimulate your body’s own natural immune function and response. Tissue massage allows you to further work out any twists and kinks that have accumulated from lengthy flights, and can include a bit of reflexology for your tired feet.

ACUPUNCTURE

Ideal for body aches and pains:  Acupuncture has been in use for centuries and its primary function is to balance the energy (Chi or Qi) flows of the body.  To a substantial degree, these flows are maintained via contact with the earth.  In the process of taking long flights we are disconnected from that flow and ultimately re-inserted into it at a very different time in the earth’s 24 hour (day-night) cycle. We call this Jet Lag.  The use of needles, electrical devices, lasers and to some degree even hand pressure on the acupuncture points provides a rebalancing effect on the body. POA

SOOTHING AROMATHERAPY body perfumes

Lavender and geranium (in oils and body creams) help some people sleep. If, on the other hand, you need something to keep you energized, try rosemary and eucalyptus oils.  Our aromatherapy body perfumes include a variety of essential oils that you can apply and enjoy during your entire stay in New Zealand.

JETLAG REDUCTION TRAVELLING TIPS

DIET TIPS

Avoid alcohol, table salt (sea salt is OK) caffeinated drinks and big, heavy meals in flight and while you are recovering from jet lag. Drink lots of water before during and after the flight. The need to get up often during the flight to relieve yourself will also keep blood and lymph from pooling in your legs and reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis and other unhealthy conditions. Request Cotter House's special Spa menu for your first breakfast.

PROPER BOWEL FUNCTION

Magnesium:  Be cautious not to get a formula that is just magnesium oxide since this is the form most likely to cause loose stools. Some oxide in the bottle is acceptable, but be sure it contains one or more of the other forms of magnesium: glycinate, citrate or aspartate.  We use a formula called Triple Mag:  the correct dosage is two 250 mg capsules a day, one in the morning, the other in the afternoon.
