NEW ART HOTEL AND PRIVATE RETREAT

Cotter House is an Auckland Art Centre and Private Retreat where art is a part of daily life.

Cotter House offers accommodation for art lovers - ideal for those interested in culture and the arts. Art-loving guests appreciate the variety of in-house artworks and stylishly designed living spaces in Remuera's best loved heritage icon.

All rooms are equipped with latest technology: complimentary WI-Fi, Digital TV, dedicated laptops (choice of latest PC or Mac iBook) iPod docks, DVD and CD players.

At Cotter House, art is an unexpected encounter, a new idea, a starting point for a lively conversation. It is integral to the visitor experience ; it's not merely decoration but is at the core of the unique character of Cotter House as an Art Hotel. Visitors find themselves engaging with the art immediately upon arrival. They are surrounded by art objects and antiques from many  different periods.  Permanent installations such as the Arthur Amon's Hump back Sushi  draw people in to the whimsy and fun at the very core of the Cotter House experience..

Art is around every corner at Cotter House — in the courtyard, hallways,  gardens and in the Ballroom. Installations flow out onto the garden and the property opens to the public and passersby during Auckland's Heritage Festival, or for private guided viewings. It's a different, and complementary, art experience from what traditional museums offer.

Over the year we showcase the sculptures of outstanding young New Zealand Artists throughout the gardens. We organise visits to Artists studios or we can invite the Artists to meet our guests and visiting groups over Morning or Afternoon tea.
